Artist Statement

Color plays a pivotal role in my work, serving as both a visual and emotional anchor. My palette is carefully chosen to evoke specific moods and atmospheres, ranging from the vibrant hues of a sunset to the muted tones of a misty morning. By experimenting with color combinations and contrasts, I strive to create a
harmonious balance that reflects the beauty and diversity of the natural world. The interplay of warm and cool tones, along with the subtle gradations in between, adds a dynamic quality to my paintings, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the abstract views. My creative process is intuitive and spontaneous, allowing the paint to guide me as much as I guide it. I employ a variety of techniques to achieve the desired effects, including layering, glazing, and impasto. By building up multiple layers of paint, I create rich, textured surfaces that invite closer inspection. Glazing
allows me to play with transparency and luminosity, adding a sense of depth and vibrancy to the colors.Impasto, with its thick, textured application, brings a tactile quality to the work, emphasizing the physicality of the paint itself.
This approach results in works that are both deliberate and organic, reflecting the unpredictable yet harmonious nature of the environments I seek to portray. Ultimately, my goal is to offer a space for contemplation and connection, where viewers can find their own meanings and emotions within the abstract forms.

Raised in the midwest I found my home in California. Creating art is my natural state of being. I found my artistic voice later in life and I embrace it everyday.
