Artist Statement

My photography preference is to make seriously manipulated, constructed, strange and abstract images of just about anything, but I do a lot of straight and lightly enhanced work also; see my website focused-eclecticism.
com. I look for interesting shapes, patterns, juxtapositions, and object arrangements that other photographers may pass by. I especially like photographing objects, shapes, and patterns that can be manipulated into radically modified images, reaching deep into the strange and abstract. When creating these images, I typically let my subconscious take over and play and experiment until it feels like I’m done.
With a smartphone camera in everyone’s pocket, many billions of photographs are taken each year. My personal challenge is to be different and unique, and yes, sometimes a little radical, so that I can catch the attention of a viewer for just a few extra seconds. I hope my images for RADIANCE are different enough to have someone pause briefly and say “That’s amazing!”
