Artist Statement

Mark Marrara, a contemporary artist based in Austin, Texas, works in hybrid painting and three-dimensional media. His work investigates the relationship between form, gesture, and transformation. Through layered surfaces and physical interventions, Marrara creates compositions that tease gravity and motion. Brushwork that continues through folds and weaves, sometimes as if stopped in time, provides a linear result, encouraging paths for eyes to follow.
