Artist Statement

Before turning to digital tools, I created intricate, cross-hatched monochrome drawings using the finest pen points. My curiosity about merging art and technology led me, in 1983, to begin working with 3D stereo-optic photography and painting. In 1984, I explored the potential of computer-generated art at the New York Institute of Technology—a moment that expanded my creative vocabulary with newfound access to color, texture, layering, and animation.
Since then, the computer has become my primary instrument. It enables a prolific, expressive practice—richer in form, color, and dimensionality. My work remains rooted in figuration, often reflecting on how technology and society shape the human experience.
A stereo-optic portrait of Peter Gabriel by Micha is held in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and his creative reach has extended to iconic commercial work, including cover art for the Rolling Stones.
