KLUCKED! is my series that takes aim at celebrity pop icons who merit a portrait as an ornamental chicken. Jennifer Coolidge plays Tanya McQuoid in the White Lotus Sicily. Tanya’s fantasy is to role play as the Italian actress of the 60’s, Monica Vitti. In the same series, Aubrey Plaza’s character, Harper, is ogled by the men in the
piazza. As a tribute to Italian classic filmmaking, the scene is shot frame by frame, mimicking the 1960 Monica Vitti movie, “L’Aventura”. Caitlin Jenner, as part of the Kardashian family, and a transgender beauty, helped bring gender identity to the mainstream media. By painting celebrities as chickens, I question the contribution of pop culture icons to art and culture.
