Artist Statement

Having dabbled with painting 20 years ago, I picked it up again at the start of the pandemic. It started mostly as a way to release some anxiety, but then became something in and of itself. My hope for people seeing my paintings is that they feel a simultaneous sense of energy and calm. I want viewers to experience some of the
journey I go on when I paint; how the In grade school we were asked to keep a journal for English class and turn it in for credit. At the top of page one,
I wrote all the numbers and letters in their corresponding colors. When my teacher asked me what it meant, I was shocked: I thought numbers and their colors were apparent to everyone …. This way of connecting color with other elements is called synesthesia, and I believe it has a very real impact on my art.
