Artist Statement

am an artist, designer and illustrator who lives in Kandy, the cultural centre and the spiritual heart of Sri Lanka. My artworks are inspired by Sri Lankan nature and culture, its myths and folk stories. To me, Sri Lanka is like another planet! I love depicting both real and imaginary creatures and fantasising. While using just my hands, in spontaneous polymer clay sculpting, I experience a profound sense of healing. In 2016, the year I moved to Sri Lanka, I graduated from an art and design school that continues and develops the traditions of Avant-Garde art
movement founded by the famous Soviet artist Kazimir Malevich (1879-1935). Inspired by my art teachers, I developed my own individual style of acrylic painting, as well as a unique polymer clay painting technique.
